The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, and Food of the Generalitat has increased the inspections on its own initiative to verify that the current regulations are being respected and to prevent possible abusive practices in the commercial relationships between grape growers and companies that buy grapes.
According to what the Government detailed this Wednesday in a statement, controls have been intensified on the purchase and sale contracts of grapes intended for the production of wine and cava, verifying their compliance with Law 12/2013 on measures to improve the functioning of the food chain.
These measures are being implemented coinciding with the start of the grape harvest and respond to the "discontent" expressed by agricultural organizations regarding the existence of possible abusive practices.
