The Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Rías Baixas estimates that in the upcoming harvest campaign, around 49.9 million kilos of grapes will be reached, a figure that places this year's harvest close to 50 million kilos.
According to the entity's detailed note, a meeting was held last week to study the Harvest Estimation Report 2026, prepared by the Control and Certification Body of the Denomination of Origin Rías Baixas, where the state of the vineyard is analyzed until early July, once the purging has been completed.
The document indicates that, always conditioned to the evolution of the vineyard until the start of the harvest, the expected production for the 2026 harvest could be around 49.9 million kilos of grapes. This amount would represent about 5.05% more compared to the 2025 harvest, when 47.5 million kilos were collected.
In the plenary session of the Council, it was also pointed out that the budding rate (90.03%) is slightly above that recorded last year, while the fertility rate (2.3 buds) remains at levels similar to those of 2025. The average size of the bunches is classified as medium-large.
The report also reflects that an unweighted average yield of 9,343 kg/ha is expected, a figure lower than the yield of the 2025 harvest, which was 9,881 kg/ha.
Regarding the calendar, the document anticipates that the start of the harvest could be brought forward in some specific plots to the second half of August, as happened last year, generalizing to the end of August across the entire denomination.
