The half-open hunting season will begin this Thursday in Catalonia, after the publication in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia (DOGC) of the resolution that sets the conditions for the development of this activity.

According to what the Government detailed this Wednesday in a statement, the calendar for the half-open season, which adapts to each species, allows hunting in the authorized hunting grounds of Lleida, Cerdanya (Girona), and Solsonès (Lleida) every Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday between August 20 and September 10.

In the authorized hunting areas of the rest of the Catalan territory, hunting practice will only be allowed on 4 specific days: August 23, August 30, September 6, and September 13.

The species for which hunting exploitation is enabled are the quail, the magpie, the rock pigeon, the Eurasian collared dove, the starling, and the wood pigeon.

These are nesting species that reach their highest abundance during the authorized hunting period, which is why their capture is only allowed in a very limited time frame of the year.
