The PP deputy of Aragón, Susana Cobos, has supported this Tuesday the 14% increase in the price of the protected housing module, rejecting that it is a "tax hike," as denounced by the PSOE. She emphasized that the protected housing module "has remained frozen" for 15 years.
In a press conference, Cobos pointed out that "the PSOE has managed to position housing as the main problem for all citizens and only brings up ideas that do not provide any type of solutions to this problem and talks about housing from the most absolute demagoguery."
She recalled that "yesterday they called it a tax hike when they know perfectly well that we are neither facing a tax nor a fee, we are facing an update" of the price of the module, insisting that "a protected housing that is not built does not protect, neither families nor young people and does not solve any problem."
Cobos stressed that "for 15 years, the module has remained frozen while the costs of materials have increased, labor has increased, and there are financing problems," lamenting that the promotion of public housing "has not been viable in any way for builders."
According to her, "the Socialist Party could indeed boast of a low price on paper, but the reality is that the houses did not exist," while "the Government of Jorge Azcón first decided to tackle the problem, looking for solutions instead of a blank sheet of paper."
The popular deputy detailed that Azcón's Executive has quadrupled the qualified public housing, going from 161 with the previous PSOE Government to 655, so that "today Aragón is the third community in Spain where the construction of protected housing has grown the most," only behind Catalonia and Andalusia, and ranks as the second in affordable rental housing.
More than 3,000 promoted homes
Cobos highlighted that "in less than three years, the Government of Jorge Azcón has promoted more than 3,000 homes compared to the 86 in eight years of leftist Governments," and added that, only in the city of Zaragoza, the regional Government and the City Council have launched more than 2,300 homes. "It is worth asking the PSOE what their alternative really is," she emphasized.
Likewise, it has stated that "this update of the module comes to help" young people and families, specifying that the Department of Housing has not only raised the price of the module but will also grant aid of 1,500 to 2,000 euros to those who buy a protected home, subsidies that, depending on income, can reach 18,000 euros. In addition, guarantees of 15% will be enabled to facilitate the granting of mortgages and access to purchase.
