The magistrate who initiated the investigations in Madrid regarding the 'Leire Díez case' has decided to send the procedure for the alleged maneuvers of the former socialist militant against judges, prosecutors, and leaders of the Civil Guard to the judge of the National Court Santiago Pedraz, who from now on will take charge of the entire instruction.
In a provision to which Europa Press has had access, the investigating judge Arturo Zamarriego attends to the request for inhibition promoted by Pedraz and sends him his proceedings, so that it will be the instructor of the National Court who continues with the investigation into an alleged plot aimed at undermining judicial cases affecting the PSOE and the Government, which would have been directed by the then 'number three' of the party, Santos Cerdán, and coordinated by Díez.
Pedraz had requested to concentrate the entire procedure in his court considering that the facts analyzed in Madrid have a direct connection with the case already being followed in the National Court.
Zamarriego, head of Plaza 9 of the Instruction Section of the Madrid Court of First Instance, came to investigate as accused Leire Díez, businessman Javier Pérez Dolset, and journalist Pere Rusiñol for their alleged involvement in a "coordinated" scheme to "gather compromised or irregular information from leaders of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office."
"COMPROMISED INFORMATION" TO "ANNULL" JUDICIAL INVESTIGATIONS
The Madrid instructor appreciated indications that Díez, Dolset, and Rusiñol were pursuing, through that "compromised information," the possibility of "annulling or sabotaging" judicial investigations in "relevant cases" that could implicate politicians and businessmen, following two complaints filed by prosecutors Ignacio Stampa and José Grinda, with whom Díez would have met to request data in exchange for economic compensation.
The procedure initiated in the Courts of Plaza de Castilla originated from a complaint by Hazte Oír regarding a meeting in which Díez allegedly offered favors to businessman Alejandro Hamlyn, investigated for hydrocarbon fraud, in exchange for information.
In the car in which he agrees to the inhibition, the judge of Madrid also orders to suspend an act of dumping a "recording medium" of prosecutor Stampa, which was scheduled for next August 20, without specifying whether this diligence will now be carried out in the National Court.
In addition, Zamarriego grants a period of five days to the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Madrid to communicate whether it maintains or withdraws the appeal it filed against a resolution of the Madrid instructor himself, who had decided to wait for an expert report on acoustics before ruling on the inhibition.
In a document to which this news agency has also had access, the Public Prosecutor's Office expressed agreement with Zamarriego sending the case by highlighting that the facts investigated in the National Court "are broader," there are "more investigated," and their legal qualification "would be of greater severity."
