The Badajoz Provincial Council has once again expressed "its confidence in justice" after the Provincial Court's ruling on the 'David Sánchez' case became known this Tuesday. The institution has also expressed "deep respect" for the court's decision, "as it could not be otherwise in a State of Law".
In a note sent to the media, the provincial corporation of Badajoz has also stressed that it "has collaborated throughout this judicial process and will continue with this same cooperation whenever required".
The statement is released after the Provincial Court of Badajoz imposed a disqualification penalty for nine years on Pedro Sánchez's brother, David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, and also sentenced the former president of the Provincial Council, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, to 18 years of disqualification for a crime of prevarication.
According to the sentence, which Europa Press has had access to, the court holds that there are "multiple indications proven by direct evidence" that allow concluding "in accordance with the rules of logic and reason" that none of the accused were unaware of the criminal plan "devised by the highest authorities of the Badajoz Provincial Council" for the creation of the position that was subsequently awarded to Pedro Sánchez's brother.
In the section on proven facts, the judicial resolution details that the 11 accused, including the current deputy for Culture, Ricardo Cabezas, acted "in execution of a preconceived plan, with unity of action" with the aim of "hatching arbitrary acts" intended to "favor" David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón.
Regarding Cabezas and the current director of the Cultural Identity area, Manuel Candalija, the Court condemns them, the former as the perpetrator and the latter as a perpetrator through necessary cooperation, for a crime of administrative prevarication, setting for both a penalty of nine years of disqualification in relation to the creation in 2023 of a position that was awarded on a service commission basis to Luis Carrero, a friend of David Sánchez.
