The Popular Parliamentary Group has registered a request to urgently convene the Permanent Deputation of the Congress and demand the appearance of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in an extraordinary plenary session due to the crisis in Ceuta.
The initiative also demands that Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Margarita Robles, José Manuel Albares, and Félix Bolaños appear before their respective committees to explain the actions of their departments during the mass entry of people from Morocco.
The PP estimates more than 70,000 irregular entries and around 150 deceased persons. Both figures are part of the party's statement and must be attributed to the party, pending a public official balance that jointly confirms these figures.
The PP reiterates the request registered on July 31
The document again requests an extraordinary plenary session with Sánchez, an appearance that the popular party had already registered on July 31, during the early hours of the crisis. The party defended then that the head of the Executive should explain the measures adopted and the information available to the Government before the mass arrival.
The popular party accuses the Executive of neglecting the situation while Sánchez remains in La Mareta and considers that his absence from Congress is incompatible with the seriousness of the crisis. This is a political assessment of the PP, not an institutional statement.
The request adds to the parliamentary offensive promoted by the party to enable the competent committees of the Congress and the Senate during August.
Marlaska, Robles, Albares, and Bolaños
The PP asks that Grande-Marlaska report before the Interior Commission on the management of citizen security, the direction of the National Police and the Civil Guard, the immigration policy, and the measures planned to prevent a mass entry from occurring again.
The appearance of Margarita Robles would aim to understand the mission assigned to the Armed Forces during the crisis and the instructions conveyed from the Ministry of Defense.
The popular party also demands that José Manuel Albares explain the foreign action developed by Spain, the negotiations carried out with Morocco, and the impact of the crisis on the country's position before the European Union and its international partners.
Finally, the group requests the presence of Félix Bolaños, as Minister of the Presidency and responsible for relations with the Cortes, to detail the actions of his department and the assistance provided to the President of the Government during the emergency.
