Adif has put out to tender for almost 17 million euros the renewal of the electrification equipment of the conventional railway network, according to a statement made this Friday.
The contract, valued at 16.67 million, aims to acquire new equipment intended to improve centralized management and remote control of the electrification facilities of the conventional network from the Traffic Regulation Centers (CRC).
The tender is structured in two lots: one for the central and northwest areas, for an amount of 8.77 million euros, and another for the eastern and northeastern zones, with a budget of 7.89 million.
In addition to the purchase of these devices, the contract includes their commissioning at all points of the railway network where necessary, within the "progressive modernization and renewal" of the electrification facilities in order to "increase their reliability and robustness," as highlighted by the Railway Infrastructure Administrator.
The intervention covers the replacement of remotes and protocol converters in Adif, technical equipment that is "essential" for monitoring and remote management (from the CRC) of the facilities that supply electrical energy to the catenary (substations, transformation centers) and to railway signaling.
The remotes are responsible for transmitting the information captured in the elements that make up the electrical installations to the Traffic Regulation Centers and for sending to those elements the orders issued by the CRC, while the protocol converters allow all this information to be transmitted in a homogeneous and standardized manner across the railway network, it explains in a statement.
