Airbus has announced this Thursday that the mediation process between the company and the trade unions is already underway in order to avoid the indefinite strike called for August 24 by CGT, UGT, and ÚTIL.
In the note sent by the company, it is detailed that in this first meeting, the issues that have led to "the current situation" are being addressed with the aim of "safeguarding and valuing all the work and progress" achieved to date within the framework of collective bargaining.
The multinational aerospace company has specified that, at its request, the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 11, with the purpose of establishing a specific dialogue table under the facilitation of the SIMA Foundation (Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service).
In the words of the company itself, "Airbus aims to maintain a sincere dialogue and address the concerns raised by the workforce [...] This table will serve as a space to discuss all issues with total transparency in order to reach an agreement among all parties."
Context of the labor conflict
At the end of July, Airbus chose to resort to professional mediation before SIMA in order to bring positions closer and try to unblock the labor conflict in Spain, after 49.15% of the workforce rejected the pre-agreement compared to 45.95% that showed support.
This pre-agreement contemplated, among other aspects, a salary review of 12% until 2027 and the maintenance of the current two days of teleworking. However, the company has emphasized that this text is not going to "disappear," as in its opinion it includes "months of work and very significant progress," and has reiterated that it will be the "central element" of the mediation.
Since Monday, July 27, operations in the Airbus Spain factories returned to normal after the Sipa union withdrew the strike call considering that it had lost the trust of the workforce for not signing the agreement.
This document included a general salary increase of 5% in 2026 and another 5% in 2027, as well as 0.5% annually for RSI and another 0.5% per year for promotions, along with a final cycle payment of 2,000 euros gross and the implementation of a salary guarantee system.
