The Minister of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Alícia Romero, attended this Monday the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy (CPFF) with the objective of analyzing the proposal of the Ministry of Finance regarding the stability path. At the same time, she has considered "very good news" that the process to design and elaborate the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2027 is being launched.

The economic head of the Government expressed herself thus in statements to the media upon her arrival at the CPFF meeting, convened by the central Executive to address the objectives of budgetary stability and the fiscal framework for the coming years.

"It would be good news if there were General State Budgets. We approved them a few days ago in Catalonia and therefore it is also the first step to be able to approve them also for the year 2027," Romero maintained, underlining the importance of having state accounts in force.

Regarding the position of the communities governed by the PP, which want to introduce the issue of regional financing into the debate, Romero recalled that last week she held a meeting in Catalonia with the Secretary of State for Finance, in which he informed her that a specific meeting will be convened at the end of July to discuss the financing model.

Therefore, the minister has called for a thorough discussion of regional financing in the next Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy, once that monographic meeting announced by the Treasury takes place.
