Grifols has restructured its Biopharma division by dividing it into two major geographic areas, the United States and the rest of the world (ROW), thus modifying its operating model with the aim of accelerating its strategic roadmap and reinforcing regional self-sufficiency in plasma.

With this new organization, the company is moving towards an operating scheme based on two differentiated systems: plasma collected in the United States is mainly destined to cover the strong growth of the domestic market, while plasma from ROW is increasingly oriented towards meeting the demand from Europe and other countries, as detailed by the company in a statement released this Wednesday.

The multinational is pursuing with this change "greater strategic focus, autonomy, and visibility" for its main operating platforms, while promoting a deeper transformation of its global plasma collection and management model.

A more efficient and resilient operating model

Grifols President, Anne Berner, has indicated that this reorganization is part of a larger transformation, as value creation will no longer depend solely on the markets in which they compete but will be linked to how they obtain, produce, and distribute plasma on a global scale.

Berner has indicated that structurally rebalancing the network of plasma collection centers and adjusting supply to the economic reality of each local market constitutes "a more efficient, resilient, and profitable operating model." Furthermore, she has emphasized that granting greater autonomy to the operating platforms strengthens execution, streamlines decision-making, and favors sustainable long-term growth.

New leadership in Biopharma United States and ROW

As part of this reorganization, Felipe Palacios will assume the position of Senior Vice President of Biopharma United States, from where he will lead commercial operations in this country. For his part, Thierry Heinrich will continue as Senior Vice President of Biopharma ROW, an area in which he will continue to lead commercial activity.

During the transition period planned for the coming months, the current Grifols Executive Committee will maintain responsibility for leading corporate strategy and overseeing the implementation of the new operating model.
