Indra Group has launched a crisis committee to analyze the possible impact of the recent earthquake on its professionals, its offices, and its operations in Colombia and to adopt appropriate measures, according to sources from the company to Europa Press.
The technology and defense group has 3,150 employees in Colombia, of which only 337 are in the areas most affected by the earthquake.
The company has managed to contact all its staff in the country and has verified that the direct impact on its professionals has been limited, although it has acknowledged that some family members and homes of workers have indeed been affected.
Furthermore, none of the 16 workplaces that Indra has in Colombia nor its activities have been damaged by the earthquake.
The multinational has expressed its solidarity and condolences to those affected and has activated a special support plan for its teams in Colombia, which includes several fronts: facilitating the relocation of affected employees, collaborating in the recovery of connectivity, offering psychological assistance, and channeling donations of food and other basic products.
Additionally, the company has initiated an internal campaign to mobilize specialized volunteers in the country, in order to reinforce the logistics of aid on a national scale, and to encourage the solidarity of its professionals globally, simplifying donations and contributions through the Red Cross and the Food Bank in Colombia.
At the same time, Indra has reiterated its support to the Colombian authorities, to whom it has offered its collaboration in the tasks arising from the emergency.
Donation of medical supplies and connectivity in the affected areas
The company has started a donation of medical supplies and priority materials aimed at the most affected communities and, through Hispasat, will carry out a contribution to provide connectivity and data services through its satellite network to 42 municipalities in Valle del Cauca, one of the regions most affected by the earthquake.
A team of specialists from Indra will travel to Valle del Cauca to install, in the next 48 hours, the necessary antennas to restore communications.
Furthermore, the company has made available to the authorities of Colombia its experience in security matters, as well as its technological solutions and applications for emergency management, which have already been used in crises such as those of Covid, the Valencia flood, the tsunami in Indonesia, or Hurricane Katrina.
Indra's Commitment to Colombia and Its Workforce
With three decades of continuous presence in the country, Colombia occupies a strategic position for Indra, which reinforces its willingness to accompany the country in this context of special difficulty.
For the company, as it has emphasized, it is also "fundamental" to protect the integrity, security, and health of its professionals anywhere in the world, a goal for which it has various technological tools.
Among them is an integrated security control center, operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from which the management of the different subsystems and physical security applications on an international scale is coordinated.
It also has the emergency geolocation service Silodes, a solution that makes it possible to locate and communicate with users in potential risk situations, such as natural disasters, terrorist attacks, loss of contact in remote areas, or during travel.
