The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has made effective the payment of slightly more than 4.8 million euros to a total of 874 farmers and ranchers, in order to compensate them for the damages caused to their farms by the storms recorded in January and February, whose damages had not been covered by agricultural insurance as they were subscribed with a deductible.

This aid is part of the measures contemplated in Royal Decree-Law 5/2026, approved by the Government to alleviate the impact of the storms that affected Andalusia and Extremadura during the months of January and February, and which has a global allocation of 2,874 million euros, as the department has indicated in an informative note.

The line is aimed at holders of agricultural holdings who have an insurance policy that includes the risk of storms, but who, due to the existence of deductibles or the conditions set out in the contract, do not receive full compensation for the damages suffered. The amounts will be deposited into the beneficiaries' bank accounts in the coming days.

The final resolution granting these aids is available on the ministry's electronic headquarters. The final amount has been determined after checks carried out on the first list of beneficiaries, published on April 20.

In this process, communications of material errors in identification data or personal information sent by applicants have been considered, as well as the verification of compliance with the limit for the accumulation of de minimis aid (Regulation EU 1408/2013). This control has involved, in some cases, a reduction in the amounts initially foreseen due to their concurrence with other aids, subsidies or income that, together, exceeded the limits set by Community regulations.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food plans to approve new resolutions with more beneficiaries of this support line as appraisals are concluded and the corresponding valuation reports are available.

Furthermore, Agriculture already transferred at the end of March, through Agroseguro, 24 million euros to more than 21,000 farmers and ranchers affected by the storms, as an increase in the subsidy previously granted for the contracting of the insurance policy, up to the maximum allowed by community regulations, equivalent to 70% of its cost.
