The Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González has demanded "transparency" this Friday in the process of delivering aid to those affected by the earthquakes of June 24, which have so far caused almost 3,900 deaths in the country, also emphasizing that "propaganda feeds no one."

"I held a meeting with Mercedes de Freitas, director of Transparencia Venezuela, and I support the Ruta de la Ayuda platform for monitoring humanitarian aid in Venezuela," he stated, subsequently raising the question "who receives the aid and how much has entered."

"How is it distributed? For me, transparency is not a request, it is an obligation. Aid is only aid if it is transparent, because propaganda feeds or cures no one," he insisted in a message disseminated through social networks.

In this regard, he indicated that "trust must be regained" and proposed the creation of "a permanent, technical, independent, and international oversight commission, with the participation of the United Nations through its anti-corruption mechanism." "Purchases, contracts, suppliers, and tenders must be public," he remarked.

Similarly, he emphasized that "tragedies cannot become a business, because human lives are at stake." "Combating money laundering requires anti-corruption prosecutors, periodic audits, and independent experts in fund tracking," he concluded.
