The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, has lashed out this Wednesday against the recent statements of Israel's National Security Minister, the far-right Itamar Ben Gvir, in which he spoke of killing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, statements that he has described as "unacceptable."
"They are inhuman and unacceptable. What is happening today in the West Bank is shameful and should stir us all. That is why we have condemned Ben Gvir's words, whose comments are unsustainable," Barrot pointed out in an interview granted to the French newspaper 'La Montagne', emphasizing Paris's firm disapproval.
Ben Gvir, previously condemned for making racist comments, has defended that Israel should establish "Jewish settlements" in the Palestinian enclave and has gone so far as to claim that its inhabitants "are not even people," according to statements released by the British newspaper 'Financial Times'.
Meanwhile, the authorities in Gaza, under Hamas control, estimate that more than 73,400 Palestinians have died and nearly 174,300 have been injured since the beginning of the Israeli offensive triggered by the attacks of the Palestinian militias on October 7, 2023.
