The Iranian Army reported early Wednesday morning a new attack with unmanned aircraft targeting F-18 fighter jets, military equipment, and US personnel deployed at the Jordanian air base of Al Azraq. This facility was already the target of bombings by Iran last Thursday, amid escalating military tension between Tehran and Washington.
"The Al Azraq base in Jordan, where the F-18 fighter jets, the accommodation building, and the large warehouse of equipment of the terrorist American army were located, has been attacked with drones," the Army announced in a statement disseminated by the Iranian agency Tasnim, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In the same text, the Iranian Armed Forces have defended their so-called 'Lightning' operation and have warned that "the 'era of slap-in-the-face' is over and that any action against the soil, waters, and sky of this historic country will not go unanswered nor without a proportional cost."
With this new bombing, Tehran enters the seventh phase of its retaliation campaign, in which it has already carried out attacks against ships in the Strait of Hormuz and against US infrastructure and military positions in several countries in the region, with particular impact in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan itself.
The Islamic Republic maintains that these actions constitute a direct response to the latest offensives ordered by the Administration of Donald Trump, who in turn justified the resumption of his bombings as retaliation for the attack by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard against a merchant ship flying a Cypriot flag.
So far, US forces have carried out multiple airstrikes against Iran's military "capabilities" and have also announced the reactivation of a naval blockade on the ports and coastal strip of the Asian country.
