Several leaders and governments of Latin America have expressed this Monday their support for the Executive and the people of Colombia after the earthquake of 7.4 degrees on the Richter scale that has shaken the northwest of the country, whose epicenter has been located near San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó.
The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, has expressed his support for Colombia and for the families affected by the earthquake. "We put at your disposal our USAR team: 47 rescuers, specialized dogs, and equipment with autonomy to operate for seven days. We are ready to mobilize when you require," he has stated, offering specialized personnel and resources for rescue efforts.
In the same vein, the head of state of Chile, José Antonio Kast, has reminded that his country "knows the pain and the challenge that earthquakes leave behind." "We are available to support in whatever Colombia needs," he has affirmed in a message disseminated through his social networks, opening the door to provide assistance according to the needs of Bogotá.
The government of Venezuela --which recently suffered a double earthquake of magnitude greater than 7 on the Richter scale that left more than 6,100 dead-- has also shown its solidarity "with the families of the victims and with all those who have suffered damages and material losses." Venezuelan authorities have emphasized their willingness to cooperate with Colombia in this emergency context.
"The Venezuelan government, through bilateral cooperation mechanisms and civil protection agencies, makes available to the Colombian government the sending of a group of rescuers and necessary humanitarian aid within the framework of full respect for its sovereignty and self-determination," the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indicated in an official statement.
In parallel, the president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, has offered his "collaboration" according to the capabilities of the Central American country, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica has also conveyed its condolences to the relatives of the victims of the earthquake recorded in Colombian territory.
