The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has urged his Executive this Wednesday to design a specific plan to repair the damaged infrastructures in Russian territory due to the attacks from Ukraine, emphasizing that it is "essential" to recover logistical and storage capacity after offensives that impact the country's economy.
"It is essential to restore logistical and storage capacity, even with the participation of the State. In this sense, I ask the Government to adopt a program accordingly," the head of the Kremlin pointed out during a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.
In his speech, broadcast by the Russian agency TASS, he also emphasized that the reconstruction of the affected facilities "must be carried out with a qualitatively superior technological level," pointing to a modernization of the infrastructure network.
Putin has admitted that the series of Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory, a military tactic promoted by Kiev in recent months against industrial and infrastructure targets, is "harmful," although he has minimized its scope by stressing that "they do not have, nor have had, nor will they have critical consequences."
In this line, he has detached the effect of these attacks from the general evolution of the Russian economy. "Various factors affect economic growth, including external pressure and terrorist attacks against industrial and infrastructure facilities. Of course, they do not have, nor have had, nor will they have critical consequences derived from those attacks. But they undoubtedly harm us, that is evident," he indicated.
The leader has insisted that the country's commercial network "remains efficient and resilient, despite the recent terrorist attacks." "Undoubtedly, work is being done under intense pressure, but everyone involved in this area is facing the challenges posed by the current times well," he added.
Regarding the economic context, Putin has highlighted that the evolution "is modest but positive," estimating this year's growth at around 1%. "I emphasize that it is important to invest in projects that focus mainly on domestic demand, on the technological development of all areas of life, on the creation of platforms for economic sectors," he emphasized.
Likewise, he has defended the measures launched to promote structural reforms aimed at strengthening the Russian economy. "The first steps have been taken, and I believe they are quite effective. This project is starting to work well and is producing concrete results," he concluded.
