The President of the United States, Donald Trump, communicated this Wednesday that the White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, will leave her position in the presidential cabinet to join the circle of his external advisors.
In a message disseminated on his social media, Trump praised Leavitt by stating: "Our wonderful White House press secretary, and one of my most trusted collaborators, Karoline Leavitt, will leave her position at the end of the month to spend more time with her precious young children and her family, a decision that I fully understand and respect!".
The American leader clarified that, although Leavitt will leave the Spokesperson position, she will remain linked to his political environment as "one of (his) main external advisors and an influential voice within the Republican Party" ahead of the upcoming midterm elections scheduled for November.
Trump emphasized the "authentic" leadership role exercised by his now former spokesperson in the White House, as well as her "phenomenal work for justice and freedom" and, in particular, her contribution to the "historic 2024 reelection campaign".
Leavitt, in her public response, expressed her gratitude to the president for trusting her with the position, which she defined as an "honor and the adventure of a lifetime".
In a post on her personal social media account, she confirmed the reasons for her departure, describing the decision as "bittersweet" and explaining that "after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom that my two young children deserve while dedicating the time, energy, and constant attention that the White House Spokesperson position requires".
Additionally, she detailed that she has accepted Trump's proposal to continue collaborating as "his main advisor from the outside", and reiterated that she will continue to firmly defend the MAGA movement and the Republican Party.
In this regard, she warned that "our country faces an existential threat from an increasingly extremist Democratic Party that seeks to destroy all that is great about America, and I believe it is the responsibility of all of us who care about this country to fight against that threat. My fight is entering a new phase, but it is far from over".
