"The Government continues negotiating to move this royal decree-law forward". This is how forcefully the spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Patxi López, expressed himself in response to voices from Sumar that have insinuated that the PSOE has left them alone in the defense of this initiative.
"It must be clarified that when a minister negotiates, it is the Government that does so, not a part," insisted the socialist deputy who, furthermore, sent a clear message to the minority partner of the Executive: "Sumar should not mistake its adversary, the PSOE will put its 120 deputies".
López has urged to focus on those who are going to vote against it "knowing that they are going against the interests of three million tenants". Faced with the possibility of approving another decree-law to extend the effects of the rule, the spokesperson responded: "Step by step".
Socialist sources also recall that if the negotiation deadlines have worked against them, it is because Sumar forced its approval, despite warnings of a lack of support. The party led by Yolanda Díaz delayed the start of the extraordinary Council of Ministers meeting on the anti-crisis plan against the war in Iran until it secured the commitment of the President of Congress to approve the royal decree-law with aid for rent
Support Thermometer
At this point in the day, there is no sign that the royal decree-law on rents will go ahead. At first thing this Tuesday, the PNV announced its abstention , which has transferred all the pressure to Junts. With the populares and Vox immobile in the 'no', the norm would only manage to remain in force if the independentists vote in favor. However, sources close to the conversations confirm that Junts remains at the same point as when the norm was approved in the Council of Ministers: against.
HOUSING PLAN
Last Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved the new Housing Plan 2026-2030.
The package of measures, endowed with 7 billion euros, is conditioned on the permanent protection of new homes that are incorporated into the public housing stock or, in the case of public-private collaboration, are subject to a protection regime that ensures an affordable price.
