Marc Márquez has won the 2026 MotoGP German Grand Prix and is fully back in the championship fight. The Spanish rider converted pole position into victory after also dominating Saturday's sprint race.

Ai Ogura finished second and Raúl Fernández completed the podium. The two Trackhouse riders took advantage of Álex Márquez's crash when the Gresini rider was running immediately behind his brother and had chances to challenge him for the win.

Márquez started from first position after breaking the Sachsenring record during qualifying. The Ducati rider maintained the lead at the start and began to set a pace that only Álex Márquez could follow in the early stages.

The race stabilized with the two brothers at the front. Marc maintained control without making mistakes and managed his advantage while Álex rode second, away from the group formed by the Aprilias and Ducatis chasing the podium.

Álex Márquez's crash changes the race

The scenario changed on the tenth lap. Álex Márquez lost control of his bike in turn 13 and was out of the race. The rider got up on his own, but his retirement left the way clear for Marc and completely opened up the fight for the other two podium places.

Ogura and Raúl Fernández complete the podium

Ai Ogura and Raúl Fernández inherited the fight for second position after Álex Márquez's crash. The Japanese rider ended up beating his teammate in the final laps and confirmed his good form after the victory achieved in Assen.

Raúl Fernández crossed the finish line third. Pedro Acosta completed a solid comeback to fourth position, while Jorge Martín finished fifth and limited the damage in the general standings.

The result left the following order in the top positions:

  1. Marc Márquez.

  2. Ai Ogura.

  3. Raúl Fernández.

  4. Pedro Acosta.

  5. Jorge Martín.

Márquez closes in on the World Championship lead

The victory allows Marc Márquez to reduce his deficit to the World Championship leader from 32 to 18 points. The Spaniard started Sunday in fifth position overall, but the full points achieved at Sachsenring once again place him as one of the main contenders for the title.

Márquez obtained the maximum possible performance during the weekend: pole, victory in the sprint, and triumph in the main race. Jorge Martín retains the lead after finishing fifth, but loses a significant portion of the advantage he had accumulated before arriving in Germany.

The next date of the championship will arrive after the summer break. Sachsenring leaves a tighter classification and confirms that the fight for the World Championship remains open.
