The Army of Israel would be preparing for the entry into force of a ceasefire in southern Lebanon in the coming hours, according to what has been published by the newspaper Haaretz citing. Trump confirms talks this Thursday between Lebanon and Israel

Precisely, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, has assured that “the leaders” of Israel and Lebanon will hold this Thursday a direct conversation, within the framework of diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire between both countries.

“We are trying to give some breathing room between Israel and Lebanon. It has been a long time since the two leaders have spoken, like 34 years. Tomorrow it will happen. Great!” the president affirmed this morning on his social network Truth Social, without specifying which representatives will participate in the contact.

The announcement comes after both parties agreed to resume talks with US mediation. Last Tuesday, the Israeli ambassador in Washington, Yechiel Leiter, and the Lebanese representative, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, held a meeting of more than two hours in the presence of the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

After the meeting, the State Department confirmed that “all parties agreed to initiate direct negotiations” on a date and place yet to be determined, in what constitutes the highest-level contact between Israel and Lebanon since 1993.
