The Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BIAU) has launched the public call for its fourteenth edition, which will be held under the theme "Caring for Life," as announced this Friday by the Ministry of Housing.
The event will take place in Brasilia (Brazil) in November 2026 and is conceived as a forum for critical analysis of current territorial transformations, promoting a "profound" review of the role of architecture and urbanism in the face of contemporary challenges.
Registrations will open at the end of May and will remain available until the beginning of July, depending on each category, which will be divided into "Works," "Careers," and "Publications."
Among the program's key themes are the relationship between architecture, water, and vegetation, the need for housing, and the configuration of new urban and territorial scenarios, which will be the common thread of exhibitions, meetings, and debates.
The curatorship for this edition is in the hands of a team of architects from Brazil, Spain, and Portugal, with diverse profiles, including Nuno Sampaio, Carlos Quintáns Eiras, Fernando Serapião, Matheus Seco Ferreira, Daniel Mangabeira da Vinha, and Luciana Saboia.
The BIAU is convened by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda of the Government of Spain, in collaboration with the Superior Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE) and the Arquia Foundation.
