Turner, a US subsidiary of the Spanish group ACS, together with the construction company Gilbane, has completed the construction of the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park (United States), which will be the new home of the Buffalo Bills American football team, after an investment of 2.1 billion dollars (1.835 billion euros).

The company highlights that this is the largest construction project ever undertaken in the history of Western New York State and that the venue has been conceived as a modern outdoor entertainment space. The stadium will host its first public event on August 8, with the inaugural practice match of the Buffalo Bills team.

The complex has been built by the 'joint venture' Gilbane-Turner and designed by the Bills themselves, in collaboration with Legends and the architecture firm Populous. 6,000 specialized workers participated in its development, accumulating nearly 5 million hours of work to complete the facility.

With an elevation of 35 meters above ground, almost double that of the old stadium, the new Highmark Stadium offers panoramic views of Lake Erie, the Buffalo skyline, and the Boston hills. Designed to withstand the harsh winters of Western New York and ensure fan comfort, the venue has a capacity for 60,108 spectators.

The director of Gilbane-Turner and vice president of Turner Construction Company, Carl Stewart, has emphasized that building a stadium of this magnitude and importance has required "extraordinary" collaboration, innovation, and commitment from thousands of people over several years.

"From the early planning stages to construction, our team worked alongside the Buffalo Bills, Gilbane, New York State, Erie County, business partners, and the local community to create a world-class venue that reflects the passion of Bills fans and the strength of Western New York. We are honored to have contributed to the construction of a stadium that will stand as a symbol of what can be achieved through collaboration, excellence, and a shared commitment to the region," he highlighted.

For their part, the director of Gilbane-Turner and senior vice president of Gilbane Building, John LaRow, has stressed that with this new stadium, millions of hours of effort from local companies and qualified professionals are culminated "who rolled up their sleeves to build the new home of the Buffalo Bills."

"Together, they created a testament to the hardworking spirit of Western New York and a place that will strengthen the region and have a lasting impact on the community. Highmark Stadium belongs to the entire region, and we are proud to have collaborated with the Bills, the Hochul administration, New York State, and Erie County to make this extraordinary complex a reality. We look forward to fans enjoying their new home this year and for decades to come," he reiterated.
