Urovesa will unveil its new Vamtac AX4 platform, a latest-generation military all-terrain vehicle, at the Eurosatory defense fair, which will take place in Paris (France) from June 15 to 19.

The company describes the AX4 as a base with a modular and scalable design, built on an open architecture that facilitates its adaptation to multiple tasks. In addition to platoon transport, it can be configured as a command post, ambulance, electronic warfare platform, or air defense system, integrating the necessary technologies to operate in complex and multidomain combat scenarios.

The Galician firm emphasizes that this high-mobility tactical vehicle supports a payload of four tons and can carry up to 11 occupants, including the driver. All this with a high level of ballistic protection and improved capabilities compared to the current Vamtac ST5.

Facility Expansion Process

"Capable of successfully adapting to each scenario, use, and mission, it is an agile all-terrain platform, with mechanical systems that provide it with high mobility and all-wheel drive capabilities, designed to transport people and cargo with maximum stability and safety in difficult climatic and orographic environments, guaranteeing its employability and deployment capability in any operational area," Urovesa has stated.

The company, founded in 1981 and specializing in the design and manufacture of all-terrain and special vehicles, concentrates its technological and industrial activity in the Pontevedra municipality of Valga. There, it is developing a facility expansion plan that began in 2024.

With this expansion, the company will reach a total available area of 160,000 square meters, which will allow it to double its production capacity: from the current 2,500 units annually to 5,000 units with a single work shift.

The project, declared a Strategic Industrial Project by the Xunta de Galicia, foresees an estimated direct hiring of 150 workers.

The initiative will involve an investment of close to 52 million euros, which will be allocated to both the rehabilitation of an existing industrial building of 9,600 square meters and the construction of up to five new buildings. These will be dedicated to a robotic logistics warehouse, a painting area, new production lines, a training center for drivers, a visitor center, and a renovated test track of 34,000 square meters, which is expected to become operational in 2029.

Urovesa, a supplier to the Spanish Armed Forces since 1984 and with a presence in more than 30 countries on five continents, closed the 2025 fiscal year with a turnover of 137 million euros.
