The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a warning due to the detection of Salmonella in two batches of 'CAN DURAN' brand fuet of Spanish origin. The agency advises those who have these products at home to "refrain from consuming them".

The notice has been generated, as detailed by the agency itself, "through the European Food Alert Network (RASFF)". Specifically, AESAN has received "an alert notification forwarded by the health authorities of France regarding the presence of Salmonella in extra fuet of the 'Can Duran' brand".

The batches involved in this incident are "262014422", with an expiry date of July 24, and "262014423", with an expiry date of August 1. Both correspond to the product "Fuet extra", packaged in a 170-gram plastic bag and stored at room temperature.

"According to the information available, the initial distribution has been to the autonomous communities of Aragon, Catalonia, and Navarre, although it is not impossible that there may be redistributions to other autonomous communities," AESAN has stated. Furthermore, it has specified that "this information has been forwarded to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI)".

The "purpose" of this communication, the agency has emphasized, is "to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from commercial channels". Likewise, it reminds that "in the event of having consumed any of the products from the affected batches and presenting any symptomatology compatible with salmonellosis (mainly diarrhea and/or vomiting accompanied by fever and headache), it is recommended to go to a health center".
