The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, has warned this Thursday that a “military aggression” by the United States is a real possibility, in a context that he has described as “absolutely challenging” for the island.
During his intervention in the commemorative act for the 65th anniversary of the declaration of the socialist character of the Cuban revolution, the president pointed out that the country faces “serious threats” external, placing Washington at the center of that pressure.
Call to military preparation
Díaz-Canel urged the population to “be ready” in the face of a possible invasion scenario, in one of the most forceful messages of recent years about Cuban national security.
"We don't want it, but it is our duty to prepare to avoid it and, if it were inevitable, to win it," he affirmed, reinforcing the idea of resistance in the face of an eventual escalation.
