The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, held a round of telephone conversations this Sunday with senior officials from the United Kingdom, Turkey, France, Pakistan, and Qatar, amid an escalating tension marked by Israeli bombings on Beirut and the Iranian response with the launch of projectiles against northern Israel.

According to a statement from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "Araqchi discussed the latest regional developments in separate phone calls with Yvette Cooper, Hakan Fidan -- Foreign Ministers of the United Kingdom and Turkey -- and with General Asim Munir, Commander of the Pakistan Army."

In these conversations, the head of Iranian diplomacy addressed "Iran's response to the repeated ceasefire violations by the Zionist regime in Lebanon," referring to the latest attacks in the neighboring country.

The Iranian minister also spoke with his French counterpart, Noël Barrot, and the Qatari Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, with whom he also discussed "Iran's response to the repeated ceasefire violations on the Lebanese front by the Zionist regime and the latest regional developments."

In parallel to these diplomatic contacts, Iran launched at least three waves of projectiles against northern Israel this Sunday, which led to the activation of air raid sirens in almost 300 localities and points in Israeli territory.

Tehran presented this attack as a "warning" against the bombing carried out hours earlier by Israel on Dahiye, a district in southern Beirut considered a stronghold of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah.
