At least five US military personnel have been injured after a missile attack attributed to Iran against the Ali Al Salem air base, located in Kuwait, in which two MQ-9 Reaper drones also suffered damage, according to sources familiar with the events cited by the news agency Bloomberg.

The attack occurred this Saturday, May 30, and Faté-110 missiles were used in the operation, according to the same source, who requested anonymity and stressed that Kuwaiti anti-aircraft defense systems managed to intercept the launched projectile.

Despite the interception, the missile debris caused minor injuries to five US military personnel and contractors and ended up destroying an MQ-9 drone, in addition to causing considerable damage to another similar aircraft. Each of these MQ-9 drones is valued at approximately 30 million dollars.

For the moment, the US Central Command of the Armed Forces, responsible for the North American military deployment in this area, has not issued any official statement about what happened nor has it offered additional details.
