The Italian authorities have decreed this Friday the closure of maritime and air connections with Spain, in a context of strong diplomatic tension between both governments due to the migratory crisis in Ceuta.
According to information disseminated by several Italian media, the Ministry of the Interior has ordered the suspension of transit through maritime and air borders with Spain after the meeting of the Committee for Analysis on Immigration and Border Security, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior and chaired by the head of the portfolio, Matteo Piantedosi.
The decision of Piantedosi has occurred after maintaining contacts with his French counterpart, Laurent Nuñez, with whom he has agreed to intensify controls at the land border shared by both countries.
