The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, has urged broad international cooperation this Thursday in the face of the "devastating" earthquakes in Venezuela.

In a message disseminated on social networks, the head of UN Humanitarian Affairs explained that he is in "close contact" with the UN team in Caracas "to ensure a comprehensive and urgent response," he remarked.

Said device includes "support in search and rescue efforts, as well as emergency aid for survivors," he detailed. "International solidarity is arriving. We will need everyone's collaboration," the British diplomat demanded.

The first official data indicate that at least 32 people have lost their lives and around 700 have been injured, without the count of victims in La Guaira, an area described as "a disaster" with "dozens of collapsed buildings," being included for now.
