The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has claimed the "socialist conviction" and the principles of socialism that, he maintains, oblige one to respect justice and demand respect for the rule of law and the presumption of innocence.
He stated this Sunday during his speech at the PSC's Festa de la Rosa in Tarragona, after a week he described as "intense and complex" and in which, he emphasizes, they have had to hear "very hard things," following the indictment of former Prime Minister José Luís Rodríguez Zapatero and the entry of agents from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Guardia Civil into the PSOE headquarters, as part of the investigation opened in the National Court into the so-called 'Leire Díez case'.
Illa also wanted to highlight the work of the Executive headed by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and assured that the country, in the last 8 years, has progressed in terms of freedoms, is the "locomotive for job creation in Europe," and that Sánchez, he affirms, has consolidated himself as a benchmark of moral authority and dignity on an international scale.
