Thermometer of the investiture partners on networks: who has more digital power?

The 'Digital Power' ranking by Vinces monitors the social media influence of parliamentary groups in a week in which some investiture partners have begun to distance themselves from the Government following new indictments of former socialist senior officials.

PP and Vox have been declaring the XV Legislature dead practically since its beginning. However, after the indictment of former Prime Minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero in the Plus Ultra Case and of Santos Cerdán and Gaspar Zarrias in a derivative of the "Leire Díez Case", some investiture partners have started to loosen their ties.

In the last year, the PSOE has accumulated several scandals linked to alleged corruption cases affecting former high-ranking officials, which have put the socialist wing of the Government on the ropes. Nevertheless, the parties that supported Pedro Sánchez, with the exception of Junts, which broke away after considering that the agreements reached were not being fulfilled, had remained by his side and accused the right-wing of orchestrating a campaign against the Executive. Until now.

First with Zapatero, and then with the searches of Ferraz by the UCO, the siren song of PP, Vox, and Junts calling for early elections has been joined by the PNV and Coalición Canaria. Also from ERC, through its parliamentary spokesperson, Gabriel Rufián, they warn: if there is illegal financing, they will call for elections. For his part, Sánchez remains firm: "If the Constitution says that the duration of the legislature is four years, then it is four years", he assured after his meeting with Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican.

With this context and with a permanent electoral buzz, Demócrata analyzes the digital power of the investiture partners: Who leads the discourse on social media? What are the points of competition?

DIGITAL POWER

The Digital Power ranking is an application developed by Vinces that collects and organizes public information about the digital activity of political representatives, presenting it in the form of transparent and impartial classifications.

This index is calculated using the RIO formula (Regularity, Interactions, and Originality), which evaluates key aspects of digital presence, such as audience size and quality, message impact, and recent activity. To do this, up to 30 publications from the last 60 days are analyzed.

Legacy of 15-M

One more week, the Mixed Group, made up of Podemos, BNG, UPN, Coalición Canaria, and Compromís, is at the top of the table. The purple formation, which was born and has always known how to navigate social media, is largely responsible for this.

But it is not only Podemos supporters who are very active in the digital ecosystem; the militants of the BNG and Compromís also tend to interact above average with their representatives.

The paradox we find here is that the parties with the greatest influence and a higher index are, at the same time, those with less representation in the Lower House. The first interpretation that can be drawn is that not all that glitters on social media is true. But one also cannot believe that in the 21st century elections can be won by remaining on the sidelines

Within the investiture bloc, the second best-positioned group is ERC. The Republicans have Rufián as their main asset, as demonstrated by the virality of his interventions, both on his own accounts and on those of other users who share and disseminate them.

The Battle of the North

Until Junts' rupture with the PSOE, a double internal battle could be observed within the investiture bloc: that of Catalan independence between Junts and ERC, and that of Basque independence, represented by the PNV and EH Bildu.

Now all eyes and balances are on the Basque Country. While electoral polls show a very tight result, in the Poder Digital ranking, there is no doubt: the abertzales lead and influence the digital ecosystem.

What about the minority partner?

Theory has shown that in elections following a coalition government, the minority party usually fares worse at the polls. This is what happened to Podemos after the first Government with the PSOE, and it remains to be seen what impact their time in the Council of Ministers will have on Sumar's support.

However, as far as Poder Digital is concerned, the Plurinational Group achieves a higher percentage than the Socialist Group, the majority part in the Government. Like Podemos, the formation led by Yolanda Díaz is native to social networks, and most of its members, unlike what happens in the bipartisanship parties, have their own distinct profile.
