The Barcelona Wine Week 2027, which will take place from February 8 to 10 at the Montjuïc venue of Fira de Barcelona, will include for the first time the Horeca Wine Forum day, a professional meeting in which the role of wine in catering and hospitality will be examined and debated, according to the fair entity in a statement released this Monday.

During this day, aspects such as the profitability of the wine offer, pricing policy in bars and restaurants, new consumption occasions, and the relationship between wineries, distributors, and establishments will be addressed. The program also includes the creation of a 'think tank' made up of 10 prominent profiles from the sector, with the aim of defining strategies that favor the marketing and consumption of wine outside the home.

The fair aims to bring together more than 1,300 exhibiting companies from 16 autonomous communities. Fira has indicated that one of the main focuses of this edition will be aged wines, designed to evolve and gain complexity over the years, which will be presented through commented tastings and specialized educational sessions.

Throughout the event, some of the major challenges facing the wine industry will also be addressed, such as vineyard management in a scenario of production surpluses, changes in consumption habits, and the necessary strategies to strengthen the positioning of wine among consumers.

The organization has also emphasized the presence in the program of national and international reference figures, including the wine critic from "The New York Times," Eric Asimov; the head sommelier at Paco Roncero's restaurant in Madrid, "María José Huertas"; the sommelier of the MU.NA restaurant in Ponferrada (Castilla y León), "Dani Giganto," or the journalists "José Ribagorda" and "Ramón Francàs."
