The Ministry of Agriculture of the Generalitat has reported the appearance of 3 new cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars, all of them located within the area classified as high risk: Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona, and El Papiol (Barcelona).
Throughout the last week, 431 samples have been processed, of which 428 have tested negative, while the positive ones represent 0.8% of the total, as detailed by the Ministry in a statement made public this Thursday.
Since the first case was confirmed at the end of November, 8,324 wild boars have been studied, with 358 positive cases detected. The high-risk area covers 19 municipalities, where 47 traps, 94 "pig brigs" or collective traps, and 350 perimeter closures have been installed to reinforce wildlife control.
