The counselor of Rural Environment and Agricultural Policy, Marcelino Marcos, has attended today the V Traditional Market of Anleo, in Navia, where he has emphasized the investments promoted by the Government of Asturias to optimize land management and strengthen economic activity in the rural environment.

In his speech, Marcos has highlighted the allocation of 210,146 euros aimed at forestry treatments in order to improve biodiversity in 65 hectares of mountains managed by the Principality. The intervention, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR), has included tasks of clearing, thinning, and pruning. These tasks, he pointed out, have allowed for the improvement of the state of the forest area and favored biodiversity, in addition to contributing to fire prevention through vegetation management and the improvement of stands.

The counselor has also highlighted the investment of 788,770 euros undertaken by the Principality in the land consolidation of Anleo, a measure that has made it possible to reorganize the structure of property and facilitate the work of agricultural and livestock farms in the area. After the process, the number of initial parcels has decreased from 1,904 to 278 larger farms, increasing the average size of the farms from the initial 3,229 square meters to 21,561 square meters.

In Marcos' opinion, these actions have demonstrated the commitment of the Government of Asturias to the modernization of agricultural structures, while also favoring a more orderly and productive territory. The head of Rural Environment expressed these statements during the visit to the market, an initiative organized by the San Miguel Neighborhood Association that has brought together 58 stalls of crafts, typical and organic products, as well as exhibitions and live demonstrations of traditional trades.
