The Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, José Pablo Sabrido, has acknowledged "some surprise" at the tractor protest called this Wednesday in Madrid, with which the agricultural sector demands urgent measures to ensure the profitability of farms and the future of the countryside. At the same time, he has defended the support that, in his opinion, Pedro Sánchez's Executive has been providing to farmers and ranchers.

In statements to Europa Press, Sabrido has shown his "absolute respect" for the mobilization, although he has emphasized that it "would not be honest" with himself if he did not express that "some surprise" at the protest raised in the capital.

The representative of the central Government has maintained that "there has been no Government that has given more support to the agricultural and livestock sector than the Government of Spain and Pedro Sánchez's Government," insisting that the current Executive has been the one that has allocated the most resources to the countryside.

He has recalled that "from the moment we entered into crisis -- fundamentally due to the unjust war in Iran -- which has resulted in more than 100 billion euros in losses for the European Union, the Government of Spain has been in constant contact with farmers to address their demands," and has highlighted that constant dialogue with the sector.

In this line, he has emphasized that, according to his data, "the Government of Spain has given farmers and ranchers more than double what Germany, France, and Italy together have," thus placing Spain at the forefront of public support for the countryside in the European context.

Sabrido has detailed that "it has provided them with aid for the purchase of fertilizers, aid for the purchase of oil or the refund of the hydrocarbon tax," to which he has added the anticipation of CAP payments as another of the measures implemented to alleviate the situation of the primary sector.

The delegate has acknowledged that, although "we can all complain," the central Executive has been "very attentive" to the demands of farmers and ranchers and "will continue to be." As a demonstration, he has cited the recent agreement on the structure of the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which, he has pointed out, "reflects the aspirations of farmers, ranchers, and fishermen in Spain."

To conclude, Sabrido has wanted to convey a direct message to the professionals in the field of Castilla-La Mancha and the whole country, assuring that the Government of Spain "complies" and that "they can be sure that it will continue to comply with them," thus reiterating the commitment of the Executive to the rural world.
