The Feria Exposición de Todos los Santos of Potes has managed to bring together in this edition around 350 head of cattle from seven farms, belonging to the Tudanca, Limousin and Brown Mountain breeds. The event has been able to be held thanks to the recent health resolution that once again authorizes the presence of cattle at this type of gathering.
The Minister of Livestock, María Jesús Susinos, has highlighted that this fair, considered the first major annual concentration of cattle, has meant "an excellent piece of news for the sector". At the same time, she has underscored the commitment of livestock farmers when it comes to maintaining a tradition closely linked to the identity of the Liébana region, as the Government has indicated in a press release.
Despite this return to normality, Susinos has insisted that prevention and biosecurity measures continue to be essential in the daily routine of the livestock sector.
For this reason, she has appealed to the responsibility of livestock farmers, transporters and organizers so that they continue applying protocols such as the proper disinfection of vehicles and facilities, as well as strict respect for the current health regulations.
During the day, the councillor witnessed the traditional "Pasá", the parade of livestock entering through the streets of the town, and then visited the different pens that make up this livestock show.
The fair has also incorporated an area intended for the buying and selling of animals, with the participation of around 200 head between cattle and horses, in addition to various stalls linked to agro-livestock activity and typical products of the region.
In her visit, the councillor was accompanied by the Director General of Livestock, Alfredo Álvarez, the mayor of Potes, Javier Gómez, and other municipal councilors from the Liébana region.
