Three companies integrated into the gourmet brand of the Provincial Council, 'Sabores Almería', have participated in the international commercial mission 'Taste Spain Copenhagen', held in Denmark, where they have been able to present and offer tastings of their references to 150 direct buyers with the aim of reinforcing their entry into the Danish market.
The participating companies have been Lorusso, Bodega Palomillo, and Bodega Sierra Almagrera, as detailed by the provincial institution in a note. The action has been carried out thanks to the cooperation between the Provincial Council, ICEX Spain Export and Investments, an agency dependent on the Ministry of Industry, and the Chamber of Commerce of Almería, within the promotion program 'Foods and Wines from Spain'.
This professional meeting acts as a platform for companies with export aspirations to position their catalog in new destinations and locate business partners in the area. As an essential condition of this format, the event is conceived as a strictly commercial showcase: only the participation of firms that do not yet have a distributor in the country they are targeting is allowed.
In this line, the deputy of Presidency and Promotion of the Province, Carlos Sánchez, has indicated that the present brands aim to "close direct agreements with importers, distributors, representatives of the retail food trade, the Horeca sector --hospitality and catering-- and local gastronomic prescribers."
Likewise, Sánchez has emphasized that it is "a very convenient format" as it allows for direct contact with potential clients to be concentrated in a single day, who can later take charge of the commercialization of 'Sabores Almería' products in Denmark, a market that, as he pointed out, "values excellence and Premium presentations."
The presence of the Almerian companies in this mission has been possible thanks to the support of the institutions. On one hand, the Chamber of Commerce, through the funds it manages, has covered the travel and accommodation expenses of the firms, while the Provincial Council has covered the participation fees in the 'Taste Spain' meeting.
Almerian prominence in Copenhagen
The design of these days combines an open exhibition area, where companies showcase their offerings and hold individual meetings with potential buyers, with spaces reserved for training seminars and commented tastings.
The global proposal focuses on gourmet products with high international demand, such as high-end extra virgin olive oils, Iberian cured meats, cheeses with Denomination of Origin, premium preserves, fifth-range solutions for hospitality, and wines, including organic and non-alcoholic references.
Among the complementary activities held in Copenhagen, an international tasting specifically oriented towards companies and professionals in the wine sector has stood out.
The Almerian winery Sierra Almagrera has been among the Spanish houses selected by the organization to participate in this professional tasting, where it had the opportunity to showcase the characteristics of its wines to specialists and buyers from the Danish market.
ICEX promotes these calls every year in strategic locations in Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, such as London, Seoul, or Bogotá, with a selection of products tailored to the consumption preferences of each area "to maximize the business opportunities of exporting companies".
