The second vice president of the Cortes and representative for León, Nuria Rubio, has reproached Carlos Pollán, Vox’s first vice president of the Junta and minister of Deregulation, Family and Social Aid, for defending austerity while increasing positions in his area.

As she has stated, the structure of the Ministry has been designed to “multiply positions afterward” and she has focused on the General Directorate of Deregulation, which sets aside 600,000 euros for personnel, with express mention of two posts linked to the vice president’s circle that exceed 103,000 euros in annual compensation.

“They came to put an end to the little rackets, and they ended up asking for the keys,” Nuria Rubio has said ironically, who has “held a mirror up to” those of Vox by considering that their internal policy contradicts the spending-cutting discourse.

In her intervention, the socialist representative addressed Pollán directly, asking him: “Tell us how this structure benefits today the life of a family in León and Castilla.” The vice president replied that the accounts of his department are oriented toward supporting all citizens who need the support of the Community’s public services, “with a clear idea: to help those who are immersed in precariousness get out of it,” he stressed.

Pollán also reiterated that the Junta of Castilla y León will reduce the budget allocated to international cooperation. He insisted that, as long as there is “a single person or a single family in Castilla y León” who is having difficulties, “not a single euro from the public coffers will go to projects alien and strange to the Community.”

At another point in the debate, Rubio again resorted to irony to question Vox’s discourse on roots as a requirement for accessing aid in Castilla y León. She criticized that this territorial link be demanded “with such gallantry and a swollen chest” when, in her view, the same criterion is not applied when configuring their candidate lists.

The parliamentarian cited the case of Miguel Suárez Arca, born in Asturias and residing in Ponferrada, who leads the list to the Congress of Deputies for Zamora, to highlight what she considers an inconsistency between the party’s message and practice.

"To ask for public assistance you have to show your roots, but to find you a chair, you just have to locate an available province; honestly, you are your meme," the socialist has sentenced. In response to these accusations, Pollán has replied, remembering that Rubio is located in her training "with the hand of Ábalos, Cerdán and of Mr. Pedro Sánchez".
