The Errenteria City Council has transferred to the Ertzaintza and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office "all the information it has" in relation to the alleged cases of gender-based violence attributed to a teacher at the Xenpelar Bertso Eskola, located in this Gipuzkoan municipality, as stated in an official note.
The City Council explains that last Friday it received a request from the Ertzaintza to provide documentation on the events linked to Xenpelar Bertso Eskola and that this Wednesday it has responded, "placing the information it has at the disposal of both the Ertzaintza and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office".
The municipal institution has emphasized that it "has acted with transparency at all times" and that "since it first became aware in May of the alleged events related to Xenpelar Bertso Eskola, it began to take measures to address such a serious and delicate issue".
Measures adopted by the City Council
Among these actions, the City Council details that it held a meeting with the students' parents to inform them of the existing accusations "directly, before they became public," and that it decided to suspend the Bertso Eskola's activity.
Similarly, it has indicated that it has held meetings with the Ertzaintza in order to specify how potential victims can file complaints "formally, taking their needs into account."
Furthermore, the City Council has pointed out that today it held a meeting with the Equality Body of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Governance Department and Emakunde, "to share information and make an initial assessment of the facts and the steps taken so far."
