The young man arrested this Monday after a long police chase that began in Monterroso and concluded in the city of Lugo has been sent this Wednesday to provisional, communicated, and no-bail prison, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of attempted homicide.

The decision was made by the magistrate of the Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of Lugo number 2, who was on duty at the time of the judicial presentation.

The investigated person is attributed with the crimes of attempted homicide, damages, driving without a license, and reckless driving, after staging a getaway of more than 40 kilometers in which he allegedly endangered other road users and the agents involved in the operation.

The events took place on Monday morning, when Civil Guard officers attempted to stop the vehicle in Monterroso during a routine check. However, the young man ignored the agents' orders and fled driving a van.

From that moment on, a pursuit began along different roads until reaching the capital of Lugo, where several police units tried to block the vehicle's path. Throughout the escape, the driver drove at high speed and committed multiple traffic violations.

The chase ended on As Fontes street, in the A Piringalla neighborhood, when the van collided with a patrol car from the Civil Guard's Traffic Group, also causing damage to other cars parked nearby.

After the collision, the agents managed to subdue and arrest the driver, who resisted and even tried to escape on foot. During this action, three civil guards suffered minor injuries and had to be attended to by health services.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the detainee had two search and arrest warrants issued by Lugo courts for drug-related offenses. Likewise, officers confirmed that he was driving with a presumably false license.

The young man also tested positive for narcotic substances, specifically cannabis, after undergoing the corresponding tests at the Lucus Augusti University Hospital (HULA).
