The head of the Department of Control and Inspection of the Badajoz Provincial Council, María Jesús Bernáldez Adame, has stated that from 2017, the year David Sánchez joined the provincial institution of Badajoz, until the moment of his resignation, her department has no record of any complaint or denunciation, not even anonymously, about his professional performance, "never".
Bernáldez made these statements during her appearance on Tuesday afternoon as a witness in the trial being held at the Provincial Court of Badajoz for the hiring of Pedro Sánchez's brother, David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, at the Badajoz Provincial Council in 2017, first as coordinator of the conservatories' activities and, subsequently, as head of the Performing Arts Office.
Called to testify at the request of the defense of Juana Cintas, who is under investigation in the case, Bernáldez first detailed that she has held her current position since 2020, although she has been part of said Department since 2002, performing the same tasks, focused on controlling working hours and processing and validating staff permits.
In this regard, she specified that the professional management staff of the Badajoz Provincial Council is not subject to time control by the service they direct: "since I have been in the Department, management staff have never clocked in," she indicated during her testimony.
She also added that her area does not supervise the content of the daily work performed by the staff of the provincial institution, but only aspects related to attendance and time registration for those who are obliged to clock in.
When questioned by popular accusers, specifically by Manos Limpias, María Jesús Bernáldez clarified that her duties are limited to controlling, through timekeeping, the staff who are obliged to clock in, but not to scrutinizing the specific tasks performed by each worker. Regarding activity reports, she pointed out that they "only" verify timekeeping, "absenteeism, but nothing more."
Hazte Oír asked her if they also supervise teleworking, to which she replied that they have been doing so for approximately one year, whereas previously that function fell to the Inspection technician. She added that her department also manages permits, although not leaves of absence, which are the responsibility of the Administration Service.
