The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, is scheduled to award this Wednesday the International Medal of the Community of Madrid to the President of the Republic of Honduras, Nasry Juan Asfura, considered the highest honorary distinction granted by the regional executive.
This recognition will be presented at the Real Casa de Correos, the headquarters of the regional government, once the President’s decree regulating this award is published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM). This regulation makes it possible to distinguish personalities and institutions with international projection for "their contribution to universal values and their impact on society," as the regional government has stated in a note.
In recent years, the International Medal of the Community of Madrid has been awarded, among others, to Pope Leo XIV, to the United States of America on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of its independence, as well as to Edmundo González Urrutia, Javier Milei or Volodímir Zelenski.
