The president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, has offered Castilla-La Mancha all the means and resources of the autonomous community to collaborate in the response to the Urde (Toledo) railway accident, in which at least 30 people have lost their lives.

"Following with great concern the reports about the serious railway accident between two trains in Toledo. All our support and solidarity with the affected people and their families. From the Govern we place at the disposal of the authorities of Castilla-La Mancha all the necessary means and resources," Prohens has said on her profile on the social network X.

The president of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, has declared herself "shocked" by what happened and has sent her affection to those affected and their loved ones, in addition to recognizing the work of the emergency services deployed in the area.

In the same line, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez, has spoken out. "With a heavy heart over the train accident in Toledo. All my affection and support to the families of the victims and injured people in these very difficult moments. Thank you from the heart to the emergency teams and to all the people who are working on the ground to attend to those affected," she wrote on her social networks.

The displays of support have extended to the entire Balearic political spectrum. PP, PSIB, MÉS per Mallorca and Vox have decided to suspend their public events as a sign of mourning, and their spokespersons have renounced appearing before the media after the Board of Spokespersons of the Parlament.

"Aware of the Toledo accident and thinking of the victims, the injured, and the anguish and pain of their families," said the coordinator of the eco-sovereigntists, Lluís Apesteguia. "With a heavy heart over the terrible news of the railway accident in Toledo," expressed his counterpart in Podemos Baleares, Lucía Muñoz. The parliamentary spokesperson of Vox, Manuela Cañadas, wrote: "History repeats itself. My solidarity and prayers for the victims".

The incident occurred at 8:54 a.m. this Wednesday, when the AVE 2080 train, which had departed from Madrid bound for Sevilla, collided with the Iryo 6076 train that was traveling ahead, causing the derailment of the last two carriages of this last convoy, according to the official information available.

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has confirmed a minimum of 30 deaths, although the initial assessments carried out at the scene indicate that the figure could rise to, at least, fifty.
