The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has pointed out this Tuesday that the 'popular' councilor denounced for allegedly slapping the Government delegate in Cantabria, the Socialist Pedro Casares, denies having committed the assault. At the same time, he has confirmed that from "Génova" an internal investigation has been launched to clarify what happened.
During an interview on "La Sexta", reported by Europa Press, Feijóo has guaranteed that he will act firmly if it is proven that there was violence. "An assault on anyone and on an authority is incompatible with continuing to be a PP militant," the leader of the populars has emphasized.
The complaint was filed this Monday by Pedro Casares before the Guardia Civil against the PP councilor in the Ruesga City Council, David Setién. The events would have taken place during the Arredondo livestock fair, held this Sunday, November 1, when the Government delegate attended in his capacity as an institutional representative.
According to Casares's account, also general secretary of the PSOE in Cantabria, the councilor approached him to reproach him for his position on wolf protection and, at that moment, would have slapped him, which forced the escort accompanying the Government delegate to intervene.
