New complicated morning for the users of Metro de Madrid. Line 6 has suffered this Friday a partial interruption of service between the stations of Laguna and Plaza Elíptica due to a technical incident in the facilities.

According to what Metro de Madrid has informed through its official channels, the disruption has occurred early in the morning, in the middle of rush hour, affecting thousands of travelers who use the circular line for their daily commutes. The reason has been a new detachment of the false ceiling of Carpetana station.

As an alternative measure, Metro de Madrid has enabled a special bus service between Laguna and Plaza Elíptica to guarantee mobility in the affected section. In addition, surface transport in the area has been reinforced to absorb demand during the incident.

The origin of the problem is related to revision and reinforcement works at Carpetana station, after possible affections in the infrastructure were detected during recent inspections. These actions seek to avoid risks in key elements such as the catenary, which has forced the temporary interruption of train circulation in that section.

During the time the incident lasted, Line 6 service has been limited to other operational sections, while technicians worked to restore normality as soon as possible. The initial forecast pointed to several hours of disruption.

The interruption adds to a series of recent incidents on the circular line, one of the most used of the Madrid network, which has already registered several cuts in recent months due to maintenance work and improvements in its facilities.

nighttime closures

Line 6 of Metro de Madrid currently has nighttime closures from Monday to Thursday due to modernization and automation works on the infrastructure.

During these days, the service ends at 23:00 hours, significantly advancing the usual closing time, which used to be around 1:30 AM.

From that time, users have a special free substitute bus service that covers the route of the circular line until approximately 1:30–2:20.
