Pope Leo XIV faces his most intense day since arriving in Spain this Monday June 8. The agenda combines institutional, religious, and large-scale events, with several trips around Madrid that will involve traffic closures and mobility restrictions in different parts of the city.
The day will begin at the Apostolic Nunciature, located on Avenida de Pío XII, in the Chamartín district, where the Pope is staying during his visit to the capital.
Meeting with Pedro Sánchez
The first appointment on Monday will be at 9:30 AM, when Leo XIV will receive the President of the Government,Pedro Sánchez, at the Apostolic Nunciature.
The meeting will take place before the Pope travels to the Congress of Deputies, in one of the most relevant institutional events of his visit to Spain.
Historic Speech in Congress
At 10:30 AM, Leo XIV is scheduled to arrive at the Congress of Deputies, on Carrera de San Jerónimo.
There he will hold a meeting with Spanish parliamentarians and deliver a speech to deputies and senators. It will be the first time a Pope addresses the Cortes Generales in the Palace of Congress, in an appearance he will make in his capacity as head of state of Vatican City.
Meeting with Spanish Bishops
After his speech in Congress, the Pope will travel to the headquarters of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, located on Calle Añastro, in the Ciudad Lineal district.
The visit is scheduled for 11:30 AM. Leo XIV will greet the Spanish bishops there and share lunch with them. The Archdiocese of Madrid has not announced any popemobile route for the morning.
Prayer at the Almudena Cathedral and Bernabéu
The Pope's public agenda will intensify in the afternoon. At 6:00 PM, Leo XIV will visit the Cathedral of Santa María la Real de la Almudena, on Calle Bailén.
There he will participate in a prayer and tribute to the Virgin of Almudena, one of the religious highlights of the day. At 7:00 PM, the Pope will preside over a large gathering with the diocesan community at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, on Paseo de la Castellana. The event will bring together faithful from the diocese of Madrid and will be one of the major popular events of the Pope's last day in the capital.

- 7:00 PM. Mass gathering at the Santiago Bernabéu with the diocesan community.
The route announced in the popemobile for this Monday afternoon will begin at the Glorieta de Pirámides and will end at the Almudena Cathedral. The planned itinerary will pass through Puerta de Toledo, Gran Vía de San Francisco, Bailén Street, the surroundings of the Royal Palace of Madrid, and the Almudena Cathedral.
Traffic and mobility restrictions
The Pope's movements will necessitate traffic closures and access controls at various points in Madrid, especially in the vicinity of Carrera de San Jerónimo, Añastro Street, Almudena Cathedral, the Royal Palace, and the Santiago Bernabéu.
The day will conclude the Madrid stage of Leo XIV before he continues his apostolic journey to other points in Spain.
