The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, announced this Tuesday that the Madrid-Seville line will be able to recover service within an estimated maximum period of ten calendar days from when the judge authorizes the reconstruction works in Urda (Toledo).
During the press conference following the Council of Ministers, Puente explained that circulation will resume with a reduction in frequencies until the deployment of the ERTMS-2 system and an extraordinary review of the line's safety systems.
Transport requests permission to begin the works in Urda
The Ministry has requested judicial authorization this Tuesday to begin the reconstruction and replacement works of the infrastructure, once the removal of the material and the cars of the derailed trains that remained on the tracks has been completed.
Puente has detailed that the affected section slightly exceeds 40 meters, although, out of prudence, the works will cover an area of about 400 meters until service is fully restored.
An estimated maximum period of 10 days from judicial approval
The minister has indicated that the start of the works depends on the court's permission and has placed at a maximum of ten calendar days from that authorization the estimated period for the line to be able to return to service.
