The spokesperson for the Popular Parliamentary Group in the Assembly of Extremadura, José Ángel Sánchez Juliá, has stressed that the General Budget project of Extremadura (PGEx) for 2026 reinforces a model of "stability, growth, and strengthening of public services".
In his opinion, these are "the best accounts" for the autonomous community, prepared in "record time" and which demonstrate "the stability" of the Executive headed by María Guardiola.
"A model based on tax cuts, economic growth, and the strengthening of public services," he insisted in statements to the media.
Sánchez Juliá highlighted that, "in just under a month after the new councilors took office," Extremadura already has a budget of over 8.8 billion euros, which will allow the region "not to miss opportunities" and to continue "leading economic and social rankings".
The PP leader specified that the new accounts increase by 755 million euros compared to the previous year and that 66 percent of the spending is directed towards social policies.
"We are seeing that it is a budget that looks out for people, that increases healthcare by more than 500 million euros, that increases education by more than 170 million euros, but also, it is a budget that continues to lower taxes for all Extremadurans," he pointed out.
At the same time, the spokesperson for the Popular Parliamentary Group reproached the opposition parties for remaining "stuck in saying no for the sake of saying no" and for "continuing to put obstacles in the way instead of working to improve the lives of Extremadurans," by censoring accounts that, he said, "had not read a single comma."
On the other hand, Sánchez Juliá reiterated his support for freedom of the press and for "public and private" media outlets following the statements made by the spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Isabel Gil Rosiña, during a debate on Canal Extremadura Televisión, as reported by the PP in a press release.
The popular spokesperson stated that the "social concern over cases of corruption affecting the Socialist Party and Pedro Sánchez's government is evident" and described it as "very worrying that an attempt is being made to target the media for addressing these current affairs."
"In Extremadura there is freedom to speak and to inform. The media must be able to address issues they deem of interest to citizens without any kind of pressure," he defended, expressing his support for "all media outlets" so that they may continue carrying out their work "with freedom and without restrictions."
